Meet Tox: Cancer survivor and sun safety advocate
Tox the Jack Russell was diagnosed with skin cancer in 2020 after his family noticed a small lump on his side that caused him no pain. Although Tox wasn’t showing the typical signs of skin cancer, a biopsy soon confirmed the devastating news.
Tox was scheduled for surgery straight away at @goldcoastvet. With Tox being an older gentleman, it was an anxious time for his family as he went under general anesthesia.
Since having the skin cancer removed, Tox has made a full recovery and is dedicated to educating all his friends about the importance of sun safety for dogs. Many people think that dogs are protected from the sun by their fur, but they need sun protective clothing just like people!
We are so proud to have Tox as our inaugural Sandy Snoots Sun Safety Ambassador. Tox and his little sister Matilda love hitting the beach in our independently certified UPF 50+ dog rashies.
You can ensure full snoot-to-tail sun protection for your pup by slipping on one of our radiant rashie designs and slopping on some sunscreen. Remember to take regular breaks in the shade and always bring some fresh drinking water so your pup can stay hydrated!
We would like to say a big thank you to Tox's family for letting us share his story. You can follow his sunny adventures on Instagram @toxandtilda.
