When you first discover our gorgeous collection of Australian Made dog rashies, you’ll notice they carry the ARPANSA Sun Protection Certification Trade Mark. You may be wondering what it’s all about, so today we’re diving into what makes our dog rashies so special!
ARPANSA is the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency, the Australian Government's primary authority on radiation protection and nuclear safety. They protect the Australian people and the environment from the harmful effects of radiation through understanding risks, best practice regulation, research, policy, services, partnerships and engagement with the community.
ARPANSA’s accredited laboratory tests clothing and fabrics to find out how much sun protection they provide. They do this by measuring the Ultraviolet Protection Factor or 'UPF' rating of the fabric. A UPF rating of 15 is considered to provide 'Minimum Protection', a rating of 30 provides 'Good Protection', and ratings of 50 and 50+ provide 'Excellent Protection'.
Sandy Snoots is proud to engage ARPANSA to test all fabrics used to manufacture our Australian Made dog rashies. We want to be sure that we’re using only UPF 50+ rated fabrics to provide maximum sun protection for your pup.
UPF testing isn’t a one-off process — it’s an ongoing commitment that we make to have every stylish new design tested by ARPANSA before it’s release, and every 12 months to maintain it’s rating. This level of independent certification is what sets Sandy Snoots dog rashies apart from others on the market.
Because our fabrics are tested by ARPANSA, they’re eligible to carry the ARPANSA Sun Protection Certification Trade Mark and we display it on all Sandy Snoots dog rashies. It gives our customers peace of mind and confidence in the sun protection provided by our dog rashies, and shows them that we care about their pup’s sun protection!
