]]>We're gearing up for a supersized summer with the release of five new dog rashie sizes for large and extra large breeds 😎 They're made from the same premium lycra blend as our original dog rashies, just bigger to fit beach babes such as golden retrievers, labradors, german shepherds, staffy mixes and more!
The world of big dog fashion just got a little more fabulous. If you've ever found yourself thinking nothing cute ever fits your dog, we've got your pup covered with our Wild Flower, Tropical Paradise and Mandala Whale dog rashies! They're the first of our gorgeous summer prints to be supersized and are available now from our online surf boutique.
If you've had your eye on one of our other prints, you won't have long to wait before they're supersized too. We're rolling out our super sizes across our entire collection of dog rashies. It's all part of our commitment to achieving the perfect fit for every pup under the bright Aussie sun.
Ever since we opened our surf boutique, we've been flooded with requests for sizes to suit golden retrievers. We understand, golden retrievers are known as water dogs and absolutely love to hit the beach – of course they need some gorgeous dog swimmers to wear!
Not only are our dog rashies a total summer vibe, they'll also help to reduce the amount of sand that gets caught in your golden's fur as well as making your pup easier to spot on a crowded dog beach (especially when there's a lot of other retrievers around!).
So, what size dog rashie should you choose for your golden retriever?
Our cover girls Molly and Eden are small female golden retrievers and wear size 3XL Long.
The girls were able to fit into the size 2XL Long, but the extra size up gave them the best sun coverage and was overall a more comfortable fit.
If you have a larger male golden retriever, try the size 4XL Long. This size is 72cm in length and suit chests ranging from 89 – 96cm. Be sure to check out our full size chart for all the sandy details, or reach out to us via the Store Chat for assistance.
If you're a proud pawrent of a golden retriever, you've no doubt been asked if they're different from labradors. We get it, they can sport a bit of a family resemblance, but they're actually from two different parts of the world!
For those who don't know, here's how to spot the difference between a golden retriever and labrador:
Let's raise a paw to both of these amazing breeds and get ready for a supersized summer with Sandy Snoots!
]]>Cavoodles, also known as cavapoos, are fast becoming one of Australia's most popular dog breeds! These designer dogs are a cross between cavalier king charles spaniels and poodles and are known for their friendly and affectionate nature, as well as their low-shedding coat that is popular among people with allergies.
If you've just had a cavoodle join your family, you may be wondering whether they're good swimmers. Cavalier king charles spaniels were originally bred as hunting dogs and are known to enjoy water, while poodles were bred as water retrievers and are generally good swimmers. So, it's possible your pup may have inherited swimming prowess and a love of water from both of their parents!
Before you schedule your next beach day, you'll need a few sun and water essentials for your pup. Well, you've come to the right place! Let us help you size up your cavoodle for a dog life jacket and sun protective dog rashie.
Sizing up your cavoodle isn't always straight forward as they come in different sizes, depending on the size of their poodle parent. A cavoodle that is bred with a standard poodle parent will typically be larger, weighing between 11 to 25 kilograms and standing up to 45cm tall at the shoulder.
Standard cavoodles should try a size L dog life jacket, and may take either a size L or size XL dog rashie.
A cavoodle that is bred with a miniature poodle parent will be smaller, weighing between 5 to 10 kilograms and standing up to 35cm tall at the shoulder.
Miniature cavoodles will usually take a size M dog life jacket and either a size S or size M dog rashie.
Finally, a cavoodle that is bred with a toy poodle parent will be even smaller, weighing between 3 to 6 kilograms and standing up to 28cm tall at the shoulder.
Our size S dog life jacket is perfect for tiny toy cavoodles weighing under 4kg, with stockier toy poodles usually taking the size M. Toy cavoodles often suit a size XS or S dog rashie.
Sandy Snoots dog rashies come in both standard and long lengths to ensure every pup gets the best coverage. If your cavoodle is a bit of a noodle (pun definitely intended!) you should select the long length.
Of course, if you need a helping paw choosing the right size for your cavoodle, contact us anytime via our Store Chat or email hello@sandysnoots.com.au. You can also refer to our handy size chart for full details of our size range.
Be sure to also check out our collection of luxurious dog towels to complete your pup's beach look! They're 20% off with any dog life jacket or dog rashie purchase.

]]>Taking dogs on boats can be a fun way to spend the weekend – who doesn't want to be cruising down our gorgeous Aussie waterways! Dogs can be a little unpredictable at times though (especially if boating is a new experience for them) so today we're answering some common questions about safe boating practices for dogs.
The number one question we're asked is whether dogs are required to wear life jackets on boats. Although Australian maritime laws don't specifically mention dogs, it's widely recognised that dogs should be treated the same way as human passengers and crew when it comes to safety guidelines.
Essentially, if you're required to wear a life jacket, then your dog should too.
Each state and territory has different requirements for life jackets and safety equipment, so we recommend checking out your local authority's website:
Always check the weather forecast before and during any trip on the water. You can visit the Australian Bureau of Meteorology for updates! The Bureau also has advice for a range of marine and water-based activities, so you can know your weather and know your risk, and get access to the best tools to help you plan ahead.
Fit your dog with a quality dog life jacket: As we discussed above, dog life jackets are essential for all boating activities. They will help to keep your dog afloat and provide extra safety if they accidentally fall overboard.
Train your dog: Before taking your dog on a boat, ensure they are well-trained and understand basic commands such as sit, stay, and come. This will help prevent them from jumping overboard and help you control them in the event of an emergency.
Keep your dog hydrated: Dogs can get dehydrated quickly in the sun and heat, so provide them with plenty of fresh water and shade on the boat.
Protect their paws: The deck of a boat can get hot and cause burns to your dog's paws. Consider providing a mat or towel for them to lie on or dog booties to protect their paws.
Secure your dog: Ensure your dog is securely tied or attached to the boat at all times to prevent them from falling overboard. A good life jacket will have a d-ring attachment for this purpose.

]]>Before we dive in, remember that fruit counts towards your dog's treat intake, which should be no more than 10% of your pup's daily diet.
It's no coincidence that our Malibu Toucan dog rashie features tropical pineapples – they are one of our favourite summer fruits! They're full of B-complex vitamins as well as vitamin C.
Fresh pineapple is a yummy summer snack for dogs, but only in small quantities (too much can cause digestive issues). Simply peel and core the pineapple, then chop it up into bite-sized pieces for your pup to snack on!
Try to limit pineapple snacks to only a few bites a day, and avoid canned or dried varieties. These can sometimes contain added sugars which aren't good for your pup.
Queensland produces approximately half of Australia's total mango production, so it's only natural that we're snacking on delicious mangos here at Snoot HQ! Mangos are an amazing source of vitamin C for your dog and also contain vitamin A.
Mango pits can be very dangerous if ingested, so remember to peel your mango and remove the pit before sharing with your pup. Freezing mango chunks is also a great way for your dog to cool down in summer. Simply pop them in the freezer for a few hours and watch your pup enjoy this sweet icy treat!
No list of summer fruits would be complete without juicy watermelon! Packed full of potassium, magnesium, and vitamins A and C, watermelon is a sweet and healthy treat for dogs. It also helps to keep your pup hydrated on hot and humid days as it's made up of around 92% water!
Watermelon rind can cause a tummy upset, so make sure you remove it first. Also try to remove as many of the seeds as possible as they can cause an intestinal blockage.
Blueberries, strawberries and raspberries are popular summer snacks for dogs. These superfoods are bursting with antioxidants and are low in calories. You can feed them one-by-one or sprinkle some over your pup's dinner!
If you're looking for an extra special way to serve up some berries, be sure to check out our recipe for Yoghurt Pupsicles! They make a great summer treat to enjoy by the pool or at the beach, just remember to bring enough for all your pup's friends!
Want to level up your dog's summer wardrobe and turn heads at the dog beach? You can't go past our gorgeous new Malibu Toucan dog rashie! Featuring a stunning tropical toucan design, it oozes summer vibes and comes in a range of sizes to suit small and medium sized dogs.
Before you breeze through the checkout with your hot new purchase, discover these matching accessories:
Aquamarine Stripe Dog Beach Towel – The cool tone and classic design is a perfect complement for the vibrant and maximalist Malibu Toucan print. Save 20% on this beach towel with your rashie purchase!
Caribbean Green Dog Life Jacket – Give your dog extra confidence in the water with one of our Australian Made dog life jackets. The Caribbean Green colour looks great over the Malibu Toucan print and can also be worn on it's own.
As much as we love these balmy days, it can be a real struggle to keep your dog cool in the summertime, especially when at the beach. Dogs with black fur are at an even higher risk of overheating and pawrents often simply avoid the beach altogether to keep their pup safe.
Stay cool, there's a few simple things that you can do to keep your dog from overheating at the beach this summer.
Our dog rashies have a range of benefits in addition to protecting your pup from sunburn. They're brightly coloured to increase visibility on the beach, they provide a physical barrier to reduce sandiness, and they also reflect heat! This makes them great for dogs with darker fur as it helps them stay cooler in the sun.
Pro-tip: Wet your rashie before putting it on your dog! It's a great way to cool your pup down throughout the day, especially if they don't like going swimming.
Sandy Snoots dog rashies come in a variety of designer prints for small to medium sized dogs and are a total summer vibe! Be sure to check out our new season Mandala Whale, Paisley and Neon Orchid rashies – they're available in an extended size range, perfect for dachshunds and other dogs with longer bodies.
Sun umbrellas are an essential part of any good beach set up, especially if you're planning on spending more than an hour there. They provide a stylish retreat from the sun's rays where you and your pup can cool down, rehydrate and enjoy the stunning beach views. But did you know that not all sun umbrellas are made equal?
Just like dog rashies, it's important to choose a sun umbrella that's made from UPF 50+ rated fabrics. We love Sunday Supply Co. beach umbrellas so much that we have two here at Snoot HQ! They're made from premium UPF 50+ fabric and are water and fade resistant. Best of all, Sunday Supply Co. beach umbrellas come with their own carry bag for easy transport.
Once you have your sun umbrella set up, you're going to need stylish beach towels to sit on! We have a range of gorgeous towel designs for you to choose from, all proudly made in Australia using premium microfibre towelling. Our full-sized dog towels are perfect for pups of all sizes and can be used by people too! Make a fashion statement with your little mate by choosing a complementary set or two of the same design.
Your pup will love nothing more on a hot summer day than some homemade icy treats! Try our recipe for Yoghurt Pupsicles and pop them in your esky with an ice brick for your next beach adventure.
Ingredients
1/2 cup chopped strawberries
1/2 cup chopped banana
1 cup Chobani Daily Dollop Dog Yoghurt
Method
Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Pour the mixture into fun moulds and add a paddle pop stick for the handle. Freeze for at least 4-5 hours (or overnight) before serving.
Now that you have all your beach essentials sorted, get ready to enjoy the sun, surf and sand this summer! Remember to share your happy snaps by tagging us @sandysnoots on your socials so that we can share the love!

]]>When you first discover our gorgeous collection of Australian Made dog rashies, you’ll notice they carry the ARPANSA Sun Protection Certification Trade Mark. You may be wondering what it’s all about, so today we’re diving into what makes our dog rashies so special!
ARPANSA is the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency, the Australian Government's primary authority on radiation protection and nuclear safety. They protect the Australian people and the environment from the harmful effects of radiation through understanding risks, best practice regulation, research, policy, services, partnerships and engagement with the community.
ARPANSA’s accredited laboratory tests clothing and fabrics to find out how much sun protection they provide. They do this by measuring the Ultraviolet Protection Factor or 'UPF' rating of the fabric. A UPF rating of 15 is considered to provide 'Minimum Protection', a rating of 30 provides 'Good Protection', and ratings of 50 and 50+ provide 'Excellent Protection'.
Sandy Snoots is proud to engage ARPANSA to test all fabrics used to manufacture our Australian Made dog rashies. We want to be sure that we’re using only UPF 50+ rated fabrics to provide maximum sun protection for your pup.
UPF testing isn’t a one-off process — it’s an ongoing commitment that we make to have every stylish new design tested by ARPANSA before it’s release, and every 12 months to maintain it’s rating. This level of independent certification is what sets Sandy Snoots dog rashies apart from others on the market.
Because our fabrics are tested by ARPANSA, they’re eligible to carry the ARPANSA Sun Protection Certification Trade Mark and we display it on all Sandy Snoots dog rashies. It gives our customers peace of mind and confidence in the sun protection provided by our dog rashies, and shows them that we care about their pup’s sun protection!
If you have any questions about our sun protective dog rashies or need assistance with sizing, you can reach out to us anytime via our Store Chat or email hello@sandysnoots.com.au. We also monitor our Social DMs, so feel free to contact us on Instagram or Facebook too!
Looking for swimwear, sunglasses or sunscreens for you and your family? Be sure to check out the ARPANSA buyer’s guide for sun protection, which lists a range of companies that provide products and services related to sun protection.

Well, you’re going to love our new extended dog rashie size range! Our dog rashie sizes XS to L now come in a ‘Long’ option. Tip #1: Create a safe and fun learning experience
Not all pups are natural-born swimmers and some breeds are more suited to swimming than others. If you’re teaching your pup how to swim, choose a shallow spot in the water that's away from crowds. When your pup begins to paddle with their front legs, try gently lifting their hind legs to show them how to float! Stay only as long as your pup is enjoying themselves though. A stressful experience can make swimming scary for your pup, and difficult to convince them to try again next time. Slow and steady is always best!
Tip #2: Be the life guard who's always on duty
It’s essential that you supervise your pup at all times around water. Even the strongest swimmers can get into trouble, whether it’s a current or riptide at the beach, or your pup tiring quickly (they can’t tread water like people). Don’t let your pup swim too far away from you in case they need help getting back on dry land.
Tip #3: The ocean is not a giant water bowl
You may be wondering if it's bad for a dog to drink sea water! It may seem tempting for your pup, but drinking sea or pool water is definitely a no-no. Not only can your pup ingest harmful bacteria from the water, it can also dehydrate your pup and make them sick. Bring plenty of fresh drinking water and encourage your pup to take regular breaks.
Tip #4: Be the ultimate stair master
Spend time teaching your pup how to get in and out of the pool. It can save their life if they accidentally fall in. Using a leash is a great way to help your pup navigate stairs or a ramp for the first time. Practice over a few days until they are confident getting in and out on their own.
Tip #5: Invest in a quality Sandy Snoots dog life jacket
Explore our stylish collection of Australian Made dog life jackets and dive into the water with confidence! Not only do our life jackets help to keep your pup afloat, the bright colours make them easier to spot on the beach or in the water. You can use the sturdy handles to assist your pup while swimming, or to pull them to safety if they jump or accidentally fall into the water.
Our dog life jackets come in four vibrant summer colours for puppies, small and medium sized dogs. Simply size up your pup using our handy dog life jacket size chart, choose the colour that makes you soul shine, and let the good times roll!
Leroy the Toy Poodle has a 50cm chest and is wearing a size M in our Caribbean Green Dog Life Jacket.
]]>You may not need to machine wash your dog life jacket after every use, sometimes a quick rinse under cold or warm water is all it will need. We recommend spot cleaning any marks or stains with Sard Power Stain Remover – simply spray it on, wait up to 5 mins and rinse it away!
Remember to pay extra attention to rinsing the Velcro® too (a soft toothbrush is a great way to remove any sand) and place the life jacket flat in indirect sun to dry.
When your dog life jacket needs a good refresh:
Close the Velcro® and connect the buckles.
Spot treat any marks or stains with Sard Power Stain Remover.
Place inside a garment bag if you have one big enough (this will make the wash cycle a little quieter).
We also recommend storing your dog life jacket out of direct sunlight to prevent fading. You can store it inside a drawer or hanging in a wardrobe beside your pup's favourite Sandy Snoots dog rashie.
Be sure to accessorise your dog life jacket with some other great Sandy Snoots products!
We can't wait for your dog to hit the beach or pool deck in one of our signature designs! Remember to share your happy snaps by tagging us @sandysnoots or using #sandysnoots for your chance to be featured on our socials. We love seeing our products out in the wild!
]]>Taking your staffy to the beach is a great way to ensure your pup gets plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. The sights, sounds and smells are sure to bring out those gorgeous staffy smiles!
However with their stocky build, short fur and predisposal to skin conditions, it’s important that you follow water and sun safety precautions to ensure their next trip to the beach is safe and happy.
Staffies are wonderfully talented, but one thing they aren't renowned for is their swimming abilities. Many staffies tend to avoid water and therefore never learn to swim, making pawrents a little nervous when they’re around water.
A staffy life jacket is essential for all aquatic adventures, from swimming to boating and paddleboarding, and also when relaxing poolside. They help to keep your staffy afloat and give them extra confidence in the water and when learning to swim.
Why not paddle over and check out our Australian made dog life jackets today! Available in four vibrant summer colours, a small staffy will usually fit a size L. Be sure to double-check their measurements against our size chart to confirm which size is best for your staffy.
While sunburn can affect all breeds, staffies have short fur and often light skin, making them particularly susceptible to sun exposure. Staffies are also prone to experiencing skin conditions, which can be irritated by contact with itchy sand.
So how can you protect your staffy from the elements? With our premium UPF 50+ dog rashies of course! Our dog rashies are proudly Australian Made and come in a range of seriously stylish designs.
The beautifully soft lycra blend provides a physical barrier, reducing the amount of sand that can get caught in your staffy's fur. Importantly, our staffy beach rashies also provide all day sun protection so they can enjoy carefree fun in the sun.

Swimming also offers multiple health benefits to your dog, such as improving circulation, increasing metabolism, decreasing inflammation, and strengthening the heart and lungs.

PPRA is a pawfect place to start if you're looking to adopt or foster a pug! They have dedicated teams in New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, South Australia and even South East Queensland.
When a pug is rescued by PPRA, they get all the necessities done: brachycepahlic surgery, desexing, heartworm testing and treating, microchipping, vaccinations, worming and flea treatment. Each pug is fostered in a family home so they are exposed to lots of interaction with children, toys and other dogs. They are given toys to play with, some basic obedience training, toilet training, good food and importantly, lots of love and affection!
PPRA have brought together an experienced team of foster carers, veterinarians and administrators who are committed to providing the best care for their rescues. Even if you’re not looking to adopt a pug, you can support this wonderful cause by making a donation here.
]]>Knowing about UV is important for people and dogs living under the Australian sun. It's widely recognised that we have one of the highest levels of UV exposure and highest rates of skin cancer in the world.
Sun damage is caused by ultraviolet (UV) radiation, not temperature. It's true, UV levels do change throughout the year in line with the seasons, but in many parts of Australia UV levels are 3 or above right through the winter months. That's when you and your pup need to be sun safe.
Taking your dog for a walk along the beach is the perfect way to warm up in winter. Not only is it great for your mental health (we love Hallie Gould's article on the Health benefits of going to the beach), your pup will love smelling the salty air and feeling the sand between their paws.
In addition to the direct UV from the sun, did you know you and your pup will get an extra 20 per cent of UV reflected from the dry sand? Quality sun protective clothing for dogs can help to protect your pup's belly from this kind of indirect UV.
You can't see or feel UV radiation, so be a #sunsafesnoot and stay informed about UV levels for your local area. They're included in your local Bureau weather forecast and the BOM Weather app. You can also use the free SunSmart app to view sun protection times and current UV levels! 🏄♂️
Invest in premium sun protection for your dog year round! It's easy to slip on one of our certified UPF 50+ dog rashies and slop on some pup-friendly sunscreen for sun safe winter adventures ☀️ Our new season Wild Flower and Tropical Paradise rashies will take you back to those balmy summer days.

]]>We're often asked about the best way to dry your dog's fur and it should always start with a good towel dry! We recommend microfibre towels as they're less likely to trap fur compared to ordinary cotton towels, making the process a lot more relaxing for your pup. Don't rub too vigorously with the towel as this can cause mats in your dog's fur. Try draping the towel over your dog, pressing and squeezing a section at the time to remove the water.
It may be tempting to let your pup dry themselves with post-bath zoomies, however there's loads of benefits to blow drying your dog's fur compared to only towel drying. Not only will their fur come out looking fresh, clean and fluffy, a thorough blow dry will prevent any musty smells from developing in wet or damp fur.
Choose a medium setting and get blow drying! Use a brush with your spare hand to speed up the drying process and look out for any mats or skin problems that may need attention later. This will also help to remove any remaining sand or debris that may be hiding in your dog's fur. If your blow dryer has a button for cool air, you can use it intermittently to prevent your dog from overheating – it can also give their fur a little extra shine ✨
Our microfibre dog towels are perfect for drying off around the pool, at the beach and even after bath time! They’re lightweight, extra absorbent and easy to wash. ]]>It's officially the season of sun, surf and Sandy Snoots, and we're here to promote the importance of a #sunsafesnoots beach culture!
Before you hit the beach for some wet and wild adventures this summer, check out our tips below on keeping your furry friend safe from the sun. Don't forget to bring a beach towel too!
Tip #1: Supervise your pup at all times
Not all beach days are breezy. Remember to supervise your pup at all times, and keep an eye out for signs of heat exhaustion such as excessive panting or a dry snoot.
Tip #2: Check the ground temperature
Before heading outside for a walk or playtime in the sand, be sure to check the temperature of the ground first. Touch the ground with your hand - if it feels too hot to touch, then it's way too hot for your pup's paws.
Tip #3: Provide plenty of fresh drinking water
Ensure your pup has regular access to plenty of fresh drinking water. It's important that they stay hydrated, especially on hot and humid summer days.
Tip #4: Take regular breaks in the shade
Playtime doesn't have to be over, but it's important to take frequent breaks in the shade. A leafy tree or a beach umbrella is a great way to give your pup a rest from the sun's rays.
Tip #5: Consider pup-friendly sunscreen
We recommend the use of a quality pup-friendly sunscreen for full snoot-to-tail sun protection. Make sure it doesn't contain zinc oxide as this is toxic to dogs. It's always best to check with your vet about the best option for your pup!
Tip #6: Don't forget your Sandy Snoots dog rashie
Choose from one of our signature designs and hit the beach in style! The colourful fabrics used to create our rashie designs are certified UPF 50+ under the Australian standard for sun protective clothing. This means our rashies provide all-day sun protection for your pup.
